[ARCHIVED] Pharmacy closure

10/2/2025

The Soloviev Group has confirmed that they are not going to delay the closing date.

Town Services available:

  • For seniors with mobility issues:
The Town has a grant funded Shopping Assistance Program. See the flyer here for details about eligibility and how it works.
  • For seniors without mobility issues but who may not feel comfortable driving off of the island:
The Town has a grant funded AAA Transportation Program. See the flyer here for details about eligibility and how it works.

Contact Senior Center with questions about the programs at: 631-749-4111.

We have updates from the following pharmacies:

  • Southold Pharmacy
Only delivers oxygen and medical equipment to the island.  Prescriptions need to be picked up there.
Recommendation – Have your prescriptions/refills filled this week or on Monday to ease the transition to Southold Pharmacy, if you are transferring your prescriptions to them or letting them transfer automatically.
  • Sag Harbor Pharmacy
Expanding their delivery service to include Shelter Island five days a week.  Prescriptions will be delivered next day and in some instances same day if needed urgently and timing for the day allows. The delivery service is free of charge.
  • Colonial Drugs & Surgicals (Greenport Pharmacy)
Expanding their delivery service to include Shelter Island. The delivery service is free of charge. The delivery service is to be determined.

The Town will provide update as more information becomes available.

There will also be a community brainstorming session (see below) hosted by the Shelter Island Town Health and Wellness Committee on Sunday October 5th at 12:30pm at the Center Firehouse where the latest update will be given and then the community will break down into groups to discuss ideas for long term solutions on bringing a pharmacy back to Shelter Island.
