Planning Board Member Wanted
The Shelter Island Planning Board is seeking a New Member !
The PBhas independent jurisdiction over subdivision and lot line modification processes. The Planning Board is a seven (7) member government body that has administrative and regulatory roles that include discussions on submitted applications and works with outside engineering companies and outside counsel when required. This Board follows the prescribed procedures, refers applications to the County planning agencies and makes findings based on the Town Code and the State Laws.
Planning Board Member Specifications and Responsibilities
- Members are paid $5,945.00 per year for their service (paid semi-annually)
- Must be a Shelter Island resident
- Term of Service is for five (5) Years
- Members are appointed by the Town Board
- Requires on-site Island visits to review application plans plus mandatory in-person attendance at monthly meetings at Town Hall on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm
